Art Performances Mark Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Start of Work at WPK

Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- A music and dance performance was given by the Mansudae Art Troupe at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Tuesday to mark the 48th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. It began with female solo and chorus "Ode to Comrade Kim Jong Il". Put on the stage were such colorful numbers as chorus "Party Represents Care of the General", mixed duet "Country under Party's Sunshine", female instrumental ensemble "Memories of the Road to Front", male quartet "Bonfire, Flare up" and female chorus "Yearning is Endless". The performers sang highly of the undying feats of Kim Jong Il, who led the WPK along the road of victory with his outstanding ideological and theoretical activities and energetic leadership for nearly half a century since he started his work at the WPK. The atmosphere of the performance reached its height when chorus "General Will Remain Forever as Sun" resounded throughout the auditorium. Mixed duet and chorus "Our Leader Loved by People" and chorus "We Will Follow You with Single Mind" truthfully reflected the great pride and self-confidence of the army and people of the DPRK who have the dear respected Kim Jong Un identical to Kim Jong Il at the top posts of the WPK and revolution. Appreciating the performance were Kim Yong Nam, Choe Yong Rim and Choe Ryong Hae, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee. Among the audience were officials of party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces and other people in Pyongyang. There were other performances in Pyongyang by the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Folk Art Troupe, the art squad of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and the Pyongyang Circus at the People's Theatre, the National Theatre, etc. Local art troupes also gave performances in their provinces. |
