Overseas Koreans Urged to Take Lead in Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration

Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Kwak Tong Ui, chairman of the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, sent a letter to all overseas Koreans on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration. The letter called upon all overseas Koreans to work hard for opening the new phase of peace and reunification in the spirit of "By our nation itself".

The letter recalled that the Koreans have waged a strenuous struggle for national reunification, taking the joint declaration as a great programme and landmark for reunification since the publication of the joint declaration.

The inter-Korean relations were driven to a serious catastrophe owing to the moves of the south Korean "government" authorities against the June 15 joint declaration, it said, and went on:

It is an important task on whose fulfillment hinges the destiny of the Korean nation to meet the grave challenges of the anti-reunification forces and bring back the June 15 era.

Overseas Koreans' organizations will actively turn out in the struggle to put an end to the confrontation.
