Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Kaesong City in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is suffering from lingering drought. According to data available, crops in some 1 000 hectares of paddies and over 600 hectares of non-paddy fields were drying up as of June 17. Rice seedlings in four hectares withered away in drought. Rice-transplantation was impossible in more than 1 600 hectares, including rain-dependent paddies, for lack of water. Hit hardest by drought in the city are Samsong, Haeson, Kaephung and Jonjae co-op farms. |
