President Kim Il Sung showed the Korean people the way of achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country with his wise leadership, determination and great devotion, the statement said, and went on:

It was thanks to his efforts and devotion that a solid foundation for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country was laid in the DPRK.

Thanks to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was published, calling for reunifying the country by the efforts of the Koreans under the banner of "By our nation itself".

The Lee Myung Bak regime of south Korea, however, has totally denied the joint declaration.

The U.S. forces' constant presence in south Korea and their persistent and reckless political and military confrontation with the DPRK have increased the danger of a war on the Korean Peninsula.

The military threats constantly posed by the U.S. and south Korea require all the peace-loving and progressive people in the Asia-Pacific region and the Oceanic region to conduct activities for supporting the peaceful reunification of Korea in firm unity.

Proceeding from this, we call upon all the regional solidarity and peace organizations to conduct an extensive movement for supporting the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
