Pyongyang Takes on New Look along Banks of River Taedong

Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- The capital city of Pyongyang is now taking on new looks along the banks of the River Taedong. Sin Song Un, a woman living in Kaesong City, told KCNA: "I was fascinated by the view of Pyongyang city from Rungna Bridge built across the River Taedong. The city has changed so much from what I saw in October last year." The bridge commands a complete view of the statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill, People's Theatre, high-rises in Changjon Street as well as Ryugyong Health Complex and People's Open-Air Ice Rink now under construction. A pleasure ground is being built at the final stage on Rungna Islet in the river, Pyongyang Folklore Park near its upper reach and a sports village on Yanggak Islet in the middle of the river. The Mangyongdae Funfair in southwestern Pyongyang is being face-lifted. Nam Kyong Jin, an officer of the Korean People's Army involved in the construction of the Rungna People's Pleasure Ground, said: "The servicepersons and civilians are now working hard to bring earlier the rosy future. I will do my best to finish as early as possible the construction of the funfair associated with the dear respected Kim Jong Un's loving care for the people." |
