Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- Public figures of Guinea and Nepal issued statements on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. Riyad Chaloub, chairman of the Guinean National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, in a statement on June 12 said that the joint declaration is a cornerstone for the development of inter-Korean relations and a great programme for Korea's reunification. The idea of "By the Korean nation itself", the basic spirit of the joint declaration, still serves as an ever-lasting banner for Korea's reunification as it reflects the spirit of national independence and provides a basic guarantee for defending peace, he noted. He urged the south Korean "government" authorities to opt for the reconciliation, unity and reunification of the Korean nation by getting rid of dependence on foreign forces and extreme confrontation with compatriots at an early date. The Korean people will surely achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, the cherished desire of the nation, under the banner of the joint declaration as they have the dear respected Kim Jong Un at the helm of the revolution, he stressed. Phanindra Raj Pant, co-secretary general of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Committee of Nepal who is secretary general of the Nepalese Association for Supporting the Songun Politics, in a statement on June 10 demanded the south Korean authorities sincerely implement the joint declaration, force the U.S. forces withdraw from south Korea and stop at once all forms of military exercises against the DPRK. He urged them to refrain from obstructing the struggle of all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. He extended full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their just struggle to build a peaceful and prospering socialist nation. |
