Kim Kum Sun, 9-Year-Old Hero of Korea
Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- Many heroes have been produced in every period of the Korean revolution crowned with victory and glory. Among them is Kim Kum Sun (1925-1934), who sacrificed herself at the age of 9 to keep secret of the revolutionary organization.

A member of the Anti-Japanese Children's Corps, Kim creditably carried out tasks assigned by the Corps and distinguished herself in activities of its art troupe.

She gained fame through art performances arousing soldiers of the (Chinese) National Salvation Army to the joint struggle against the Japanese imperialists.

The guerillas and inhabitants of the guerilla base loved this little girl so much, and President Kim Il Sung praised her as a wit.

She pepped up the guerrillas and people in the battle to defend Xiaowangqing guerrilla base and other fights against the Japanese imperialists by shouting revolutionary slogans and singing militant songs together with other members of the Children's Corps.

In the autumn of Juche 23 (1934) Kim Kum Sun was arrested by the Japanese military police after delivering a message of the revolutionary organization in Yaoyinggou to the enemy-controlled area. But, she kept secret of the organization despite the enemy's appeasement, threat and tortures. "Down with the Japanese imperialists! Long live the Korean revolution!" -- this was what she shouted out at the execution site.

Standing at Kim Kum Sun Secondary School in Sinuiju City, North Phyongan Province, the DPRK, is a statue of this girl, well-known as a juvenile revolutionary and hero.

Inheriting the revolutionary traditions of the Anti-Japanese Children's Corps, members of the Korean Children's Union bravely fought against the U.S. aggressors in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953).

Today millions of KCU members prepare themselves to be juvenile heroes like Kim Kum Sun and pillars of thriving Korea under the loving care of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.
