DPRK's West Coastal Area Experiences Exceptionally Hot Weather
Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- The west coastal area in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is suffering from exceptionally high temperatures, as well as a long spell of drought.

The highest temperature in most of the area in late May was 3 to 8 degrees C and from mid-June 7 degrees C higher than the average.

On June 24, Pyongyang City witnessed 35 degrees C, Phyongsong and Sariwon cities 34, Nampho City 33 and Haeju City 32, the highest ever in the areas since the beginning of meteorological observation.

Such phenomenon is ascribable to the high pressure above the East Sea of Korea expanding up to the west coastal area, allowing the hot air to steadily come towards Korea from the south.

High temperature is likely to linger in the area.
