Okinawa Assembly Adopts Resolution against Osprey Deployment

Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- The Okinawa Prefectural Assembly adopted a resolution Tuesday opposing the planned deployment of the MV-22 Osprey at the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Base amid safety concerns over the military transport aircraft in the wake of a series of incidents involving the aircraft.

The resolution says the governments of Japan and the United States are aiming to impose the Osprey on Okinawa against the wishes of the prefecture that the risks posed to the local community by the Futenma base will be removed as soon as possible.
