Pyongyang, July 2 (KCNA) -- Various activities have been conducted in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea during the months (March-July) for protection of useful animals. According to Jong Yong Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., Nature Conservation Union of Korea, information activities have been conducted to make people and schoolchildren have a correct understanding of the importance of the protection of useful animals and the ways to do so. Efforts have also been made to protect and increase animals and birds inhabiting parks and over 200 nature reserves throughout the country, including Mts. Paektu, Kumgang, Myohyang and Kuwol. Tall trees, shrubs and fodder plants have been planted at sanctuaries for animals to further improve their living conditions. Girls and boys of primary and secondary schools across the country are providing birds' nests around their schools and villages, at foot of mountains and in parks, pleasure grounds and other places. |
