Rodong Sinmun Denounces U.S.-south Korea Joint War Drill
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, the U.S. forces together with south Korean puppet troops staged the largest-ever joint live-shell firing drill in Phochon, Kyonggi Province, not far from the Military Demarcation Line.

The drill was followed by a large-scale joint military maneuver involving lots of war hardware including the U.S. nuclear-powered carrier George Washington.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a bylined article in this regard: Those military drills were, in fact, staged under the simulated conditions of a surprise preemptive attack on the DPRK in seas, ground and the air.

They were timed to coincide with June 25, the day when the Korean War broke out. They were a preliminary war making the ignition of another Korean war on the Korean Peninsula an established fact, the article says, and goes on:

The U.S. claimed they were regular drills aimed at coping with someone's "infiltration" and "provocation" and retaliating against them, but such rhetoric can never work in this bright world. It is nothing but a shameless sophism that a burglar should be allowed to "beat" and "punish" the master of a house.

The joint live-shell firing drill was an extremely dangerous provocation heralding the start of a war, going beyond the phase of threat to the DPRK.

The U.S. is seeking to strike the DPRK by a surprise preemptive attack on it to occupy the whole of Korea as it did in the Korean War in the last century.

The military and technical superiority is not a monopoly of the U.S. and gone are the days never to return when the U.S. could threaten and blackmail the DPRK with A-bombs.

The persistent U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK will compel its army and people to bolster up the nuclear deterrent for self-defence to frustrate it.
