Termination of Armistice Urged
Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The Korean Peninsula has been reduced to the world's most volatile region with the cold war era structure still remaining due to the United States keeping up the state of armistice.

In this regard, Dr. Hwang Myong Chol at the Academy of Social Sciences told KCNA:

The Korean War, started on June 25, 1950, has not yet ended.

Pursuant to the Armistice Agreement (AA), the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is still at a state of war with the United States. This evidently show what option the DPRK should take.

Ambitious U.S. munitions monopolies are trying to expand weaponry market. In the 21st century, the U.S. has attached priority to the Asia-pacific region for its world's strategic hegemony.

It is the U.S. calculation that maintenance of the cold war era structure in the region can help fatten the U.S. munitions businesses.

Therefore, the U.S. has turned blind eyes to the DPRK proposal for replacing AA with a peace accord. It has formed a triangular military alliance with south Korea and Japan, tightening military pressure upon the DPRK.

Recently, it staged a firing drill with the DPRK flag as the target under the scenario to stifle the DPRK with all military means including nuclear weapons.

It is quite natural exercise of the right to self-defence for the DPRK to counter the U.S. persistent anti-DPRK policy and intensified military pressure with its increased nuclear deterrent.

After all, to replace the AA with a peace accord is a prerequisite to peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula.
