Moscow, July 7 (KCNA) --The Second World Media Summit was held in Moscow. It discussed such issues as challenges facing media in the changing world in the new century, ways to meet them, and the need to overcome speculated and biased reports, in particular, step up the technological updating of media and ensure the safety of reporters. Kim Pyong Ho, director general of the Korean Central News Agency, made a speech at the summit. If the media are to perform their role as guides and organizers of public opinion, they should discard prejudice and strictly observe objectivity, impartiality and correctness, he said, and continued: Only when the media do not resort to prejudice and distortion but conduct impartial and objective press activities from the stand of good faith, can they create an atmosphere of trust and contribute to establishing a fair international information order. Any unchallenged news released by the developed media organizations should be trustworthy news objectively reflecting the voices of all national media under any circumstances. But the monopoly policy of some multi-national media still in force in the field of media bars the voices of national media from being correctly heard. If national media are to creditably perform their role, it is important to boost cooperation among national media and rely on their own information, not on the unreasonable and distorted information released by some multi-national media. Though the army and people of the DPRK lost the father of the nation all of a sudden last year, they are making a general march towards a final victory full of conviction under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, he said, adding many reporters of the world must have witnessed this stirring reality during their visit to the DPRK. We are releasing fair and objective reports in the idea of independence, friendship and peace and making positive efforts to boost cooperation and exchange with all media organizations which show good faith towards us. He expressed expectation that all the media would correctly see not only the reality of the DPRK but events taking place in the world and release impartial reports about them. |
