Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- Seminars on feats President Kim Il Sung performed in the struggle for national reunification were held in Guinea and India on July 2 to mark the 40th anniversary of the July 4 joint statement. Displayed in the venues were books and photos introducing feats of Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il in the national reunification movement. Abdoulaye Diallo, chairman of Guinean Society for the Study of the Juche Literary Idea, noted that the three principles -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- became the great programme for Korea's reunification as they were clearly specified in the July 4 joint statement published by the north and the south of Korea in 1972. He noted that the President advanced the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo in October 1980 and published the 10-point Programme for the Great Unity of the Whole Nation in April 1993. Recalling that he signed a historic document related to the issue of national reunification on the evening of July 7, a day before he passed away, the chairman said that the exploits of the President for national reunification would always be remembered by the Korean people. Anita Chopra, president of the Indian Working Women Society for Study of the Juche Philosophy, said that the President set forth the Three Principles of National Reunification -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity. She noted that leader Kim Jong Il formulated the 10-point Programme for the Great Unity of the Whole Nation, the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo and the Three Principles of National Reunification as the Three Charters for National Reunification true to the intention of the President and wisely led the struggle to materialize them. In the meantime, Anders Kristensen, chairman of the Demark-DPRK Friendship Association, and Antti Sika Aho, chairman of the Finland-Korea Society, released statements on July 3 on the same occasion. |
