The U.S. Department of State called the recent U.S.-south Korea joint military drills "annual exercises for defence", claiming it has no willingness to be hostile toward the DPRK.

The U.S. claim is preposterous as the joint military maneuvers are aimed at the DPRK, beyond the nature of annual exercises.

The offensive and aggressive nature of what the U.S. called annual exercises can be proved by a military drill it kicked off against the DPRK with June 25, the day when it ignited a war against the DPRK, as an occasion.

The drill included a joint naval mobile training, a live-shell firing drill with south Korean forces, with nuclear-powered carrier George Washington and huge weaponry involved.

The drill was an actual war maneuver aimed at mounting a preemptive strike on the DPRK from the sea, the ground and the air.

The U.S. called the maneuvers regular ones for "beating back and punishing" someone's "infiltration and provocation". But such method can never work today.

The purpose of the saber-rattling is to get on the nerves of the DPRK to make a military counteraction, which will be used as a pretext for igniting a war against it.

After occupying the DPRK by force of arms, the U.S. seeks to turn the Korean Peninsula into a strategic bridgehead and realize its ambition for world hegemony with ease.

Herein lie the purposes of the U.S.-led joint military exercises and reinforcement of armed forces in the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity.

The U.S. reckless military moves are laying a stumbling block in solving issues including one for ensuring the peace of the Korean Peninsula.

The U.S. has claimed so far that it has no willingness to invade the DPRK and be hostile to it. But the situation proves its claim was a sheer lie.

No matter what wicked trickery the U.S. applies, it can not evade the responsibility for increasing the tension on the Korean Peninsula with threats and provocations.
