Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Korean jewel painting with a short history is well received by the world people for its unique quality, vivid depiction and style. This painting is drawn with powdered natural stone of various colors to give delicate depiction of figures, animals and landscape. In Juche 77 (1988) leader Kim Jong Il saw fine art pieces of this new style and named it "Korean jewel painting." Later, a Korean jewel painting production group was organized at the Mansudae Art Studio. The group has produced a large number of masterpieces. Among them are "Tiger in Mt. Paektu", "The Snow Is Falling" and "Dove Dancing" listed as natural assets. Korean jewel painting won gold medals and diplomas in various international fairs and exhibitions including 88 Beijing International Inventions Show held in China in October 1988. It was also highly appreciated at the fine art festival of the 20th "Master Class" International Art Festival held recently in Sankt-Peterburg, Russia. |
