Rodong Sinmun Calls for Preserving Three Principles of National Reunification and North-South Declarations
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Wednesday calls for firmly preserving the principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity and implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration in the movement for national reunification.

A bylined article of the paper says:

Independence is a fundamental principle of the country's reunification that can never be conceded.

Outside forces, who are working hard to fish in troubled waters by resorting to national division and alienation, can do nothing when all the compatriots maintain independent stand and defend the interests of the nation.

Peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula are a prerequisite for the country's reunification.

Different ideologies and social systems that have existed in the north and the south of Korea for a long time can not be a pretext for the use of force. If the north and the south fight with each other, our nation will suffer holocaust and the imperialist aggression forces will get profits. It is necessary to end the acts escalating the military tension on the peninsula and remove the source of a war threatening the peaceful reunification.

The great national unity is a decisive guarantee for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. The Korean nation has common national feelings and unanimous desire for the reunification. This will provide a basis for unity.

Only when the entire nation get united, will it be possible to strengthen the driving forces of the country's reunification. And only when the driving forces of the reunification are strong, can they frustrate the anti-reunification moves of the separatist forces at home and abroad and achieve the country's reunification.

Lesson showed that the deviation from the principles of independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity and denial of the north-south declarations would deteriorate the inter-Korean relations and endanger the nation's destiny.

The future of the inter-Korean relations and the country's reunification movement entirely depend on how the north-south declarations are preserved and implemented.

The stand and attitude toward the north-south declarations are a milestone distinguishing reunification from division, unity from confrontation and peace from war.
