S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Pro-reunification Activists under Fire

Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) on July 20 made public a special statement in denunciation of the south Korean authorities' frantic suppression of pro-reunification activists. The statement said: There is no ground to assert that Pyongyang visit paid by Ro Su Hui, vice-chairman of the Pomminryon South Headquarters, posed threat to public security as it was aimed at national reconciliation and peace. It, therefore, does not go against the "Security Law." Peace and prosperity of the nation can be guaranteed by implementation of inter-Korean declarations only. This is known to everybody but the "government" denies them and sticks to tightening alliance with the U.S. Dictatorial acts of stifling the fellow countrymen by drawing Japan, which lays territorial claim to Tok Islets, and working hard to stay in power, have originated from the stand of following the U.S. and Japan, to all intents and purposes. The present "government" is the band of hooligans as they dragged Ro Su Hui like a piece of baggage in the eyes of all Koreans and the world and hurt the supreme dignity of the nation without hesitation. The struggle of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon which explored the way for peace between the south and the north can never be a sin but deserves admiration. The statement declared that the organization would stage an active mass struggle to condemn the authorities' crimes against the nation and force them to release all the detained pro-reunification activists. |
