Most of the pictures of this kind are based on the excellent techniques of Korean painting such as telling yet delicate touch. They left much to be desired in content and form, but successfully represented the artistic talent and affect of ancestors and national feelings.

Typical of them are pictures displayed at Ryangchon, Kaesim and Wonmyong temples in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
