Flood Hinders Railway Transport in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Downpour has brought big damage to the railway service in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

On July 23, the torrential rain washed away roadbed in several hundred-meter-long railway sections between Tongsin and Kaego and between Kaego and Jinphyong.

Earlier, a railway bridge between Jangphyong and Kimchaek was damaged and some parts of Tonsan-Paekgumsan railway section were buried by mudslides, affected by typhoon-7.

Over 10 000 cubic meters of mudslide fell on a section of Paekam-Taethaek railroad.

The torrential rain left the communications with several railway stations paralyzed to make it impossible to get information about damage.

Reconstruction for the railway sections has begun to resume the train service.

Most of passenger and freight traffic relies on trains in the DPRK.
