The army and people of the DPRK will soon greet July 27, the anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (Korean War) amid a great joy of having awarded the title of DPRK Marshal to Kim Jong Un, supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA), he said in his statement, and went on:

The Korean people dashed the ambition of the imperialist aggressors to grab the whole of the Korean Peninsula and honorably protected the sovereignty and territory of the country by displaying matchless bravery and heroic self-sacrificing spirit in the hardest-fought 1950-1953 Fatherland Liberation War against the invasion by the U.S. and forces following it.

Awarding the title of DPRK Marshal to Kim Jong Un is a historical event of great significance in the struggle of the Korean people to defend socialism and build a thriving nation.
