Downpour, triggered by typhoon-7, hit the whole area of Korea on July 18 and 19. It rained heavily in some areas of Pyongyang City, North and South Phyongan, Jagang, South Hamgyong and Kangwon provinces from night of July 22 to 9:00 on July 24.

The downpour and strong rainstorm destroyed farmland, houses, public buildings and bridges and temporarily suspended train service in those areas, causing big damage.

The Cabinet, ministries, national institutions and local party and power bodies are concentrating efforts on recovering from the damage at an early date.

Officials across the country are going out to disaster-hit areas to learn about the damage and take necessary measures.

People of Kangwon Province are repairing high-tension towers, bridges and waterways together with service personnel.

Similar projects are also brisk in South Hamgyong Province.

Tanchon City rapidly repaired more than 500 dwelling houses which had been submerged in Jikjol-dong with the help of service personnel and provided the inhabitants with food, fuel and foodstuffs, putting their life on normal basis. Sinhung and Yonggwang counties are pushing ahead with embankment restoration.

Destroyed houses have been rebuilt in cities and counties of Jagang and North and South Phyongan provinces including Huichon City and Ryongchon, Phihyon, Unsan and Pukchang counties.

The all-people drive to recover from the flood damage involves all fields of national economy. Meticulous work is organized to clear the farmland of damage and manure and cultivate crops.

Officials and workers in the fields of railway transport are buckling down to restoring roadbeds and railway bridges which were washed away or buried by landslides in different sections.
