Extravaganza "Arirang" Starts

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", winner of Kim Il Sung Prize, raised its first curtain at the May Day Stadium on picturesque Rungna Island on Wednesday evening. Its creative staff produced new scenes representing the indomitable spirit of service personnel and people dynamically advancing toward the final victory of thriving Korea under the leadership of the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, holding President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in high esteem for all ages, and the true appearance of the DPRK which undergoes changes everyday. Among the audience were Kim Ki Nam and Yang Hyong Sop, officials of working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel, working people in Pyongyang, overseas Koreans and foreign guests. Minister of Culture Hong Kwang Sun made an opening address. When songs "Fortune of Korea" and "Do Prosper, Era of the Workers' Party" reverberated through the stadium, there appeared on the background letters "Highest tribute to the great Comrade Kim Il Sung and Comrade Kim Jong Il", "Highest glory to the dear respected Comrade Kim Jong Un", "Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are eternal sun of Juche", "Long live Heaven-sent illustrious commander General Kim Jong Un!", turning the stadium into a huge sea of flowers and dancers. The performers highly praised the undying revolutionary careers and feats of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who built on this land a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence, and demonstrated the dignity and power of the nation and glorified the 100 year-long history of Juche Korea as a proud period of great changes of the nation. The perfect performance was highly acclaimed by the audience for the acme of human culture and art. It was featured by a good combination of music, dances, gymnastics, acrobatics and ever-changing background strong in national flavor and high in artistry and peculiar stage decors, electronic displays and laser lighting. |
