Collieries Damaged by Flood in DPRK
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Recent flood brought devastating damage to some collieries in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

According to estimated data, more than 179 000 tonnes of coal were washed away and 200 odd pieces of equipment and scores of pits submerged at coal mines in the Kaechon Area Coal Mine Complex and Tokchon Area Coal Mine Complex.

The flood left dozens of people dead or injured and 4 000 dwelling houses submerged.

More than 80 spots of conveyers were broken down and sections of railways, roads and bridges washed away to hinder the coal transport.

Rehabilitation materials are now supplied preferentially to those flood-stricken coal mines.
