The work, made public on August 4, 1997, clarifies the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung for national reunification and formulates the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme for great national unity and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the three charters for national reunification.

It also indicates tasks and ways for accomplishing the cause of national reunification on the basis of the charters.
