Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Observed in Japan
Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- A lecture took place in Tokyo on August 7 in the run-up to the 67th anniversary of Korea's liberation under the sponsorship of the Japanese Regional Committee of the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration.

Pak Han Sik, professor at Georgia University in the U.S., said in a lecture that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK poses a main problem in the DPRK-U.S. relations, urging the U.S. to immediately roll it back.

He called on the overseas Koreans to make positive efforts for the reunification of Korea.

A statement of the committee was adopted at the lecture.

The statement said: Japan has distorted and justified its history of aggression, made desperate efforts to grab Tok Islets and resorted to all sorts of discrimination and suppression of Koreans in Japan, far from making apology and reparation for imposing unspeakable misfortunes and disasters upon Koreans after occupying Korea for more than four decades. It is now stepping up the moves to launch overseas expansion along the road of reinvasion paved by the traitors in the 21st century worse than "the five traitors of 1905" and to turn itself into a military giant.

It is impossible to defend the nation's sovereignty and dignity and achieve prosperity as long as outsiders' aggression and the moves of the sycophants and traitors are allowed, the statement noted, and continued:

The U.S. should make a switchover in its hostile policy toward the DPRK, opt for concluding a peace treaty and pull its troops for aggression out of south Korea.

The south Korean authorities should step down after putting end to their sycophancy and treachery, confrontation with fellow countrymen and moves to stay in power.

Japan should apologize and redeem its crimes committed against the Korean nation in the past and halt discrimination and crackdown upon Koreans in Japan.

The Koreans in Japan should solidarize and unite with all other Koreans in the south and the north and overseas, foil all sorts of anti-reunification forces' moves and wage an indomitable struggle for achieving national reunification by following the trend in the June 15 era.
