The book contains 12 works including talks and letters published by general secretary Kim Jong Il from December 1991 to April 1992.

In the work "The Historical Lesson in Building Socialism and the General Line of Our Party" he clarified the basic cause of the collapse of socialism in the former Soviet Union and other countries which were building socialism and its historical lesson and the issue of strengthening the driving force of revolution with the correct guiding idea.

Works "Let Us Further Glorify Our Socialism by Strengthening the Party Work" and "Let Us Further Strengthen Single-minded Unity and Give Full Play to the Korean Nation-first Spirit" clarify the tasks and ways for defending and advancing the socialist cause with the might of unity.

Expounded in the work "Let Us Brilliantly Carry Forward and Develop the Revolutionary Traditions of Juche" are the ideas and theories on defending and glorifying the revolutionary tradition of the Workers' Party of Korea generation after generation.

Enshrined in the works "Let Us Give Fuller Play to the Political and Ideological Advantages of the Revolutionary Army" and "On Strengthening the People's Army and Establishing the Social Trait of Giving Priority to Military Affairs" are his original military ideas and theories on army building.

The book also includes the works "On Juche Literature" and "The Feature Film 'The Nation and Destiny' Should Become Great Masterpiece of Our Era" which serve as the guidelines in building Juche-based literature and arts and the work "On Developing the Light Industry and Improving the Research into Economic Management" which sets forth the tasks for remarkably improving the standard of people's living.

The book deals with the ideas, theories and policies that were raised in the revolution and construction including the issue of firmly establishing Juche in the work of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, the issue of more dynamically pushing forward the movement for national reunification and the issue of fully displaying the beautiful traits of revolutionary comradeship.
