Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's guidance to military camping of students of Kim Il Sung University in Oun-dong. All the participants paid silent tribute to Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il guided the military camping of students in Oun-dong for more than 40 days from August 20, 1962. He developed and enriched the Juche-oriented military ideas, theories and war methods of President Kim Il Sung. He led all the campers to regard the camping period as military service, train themselves under the simulated conditions of an actual battle, live as required by military rules and drill manual and thus prepare themselves as soldiers. He spent the camping period without allowing any privilege, thus showing the noble personality as the brilliant Songun commander. Song Ja Rip, president of Kim Il Sung University and minister of Higher Education, in his report stressed the need for officials and university students to deeply grasp the undying feats Kim Jong Il performed during his guidance to the military camping in Oun-dong and sincerely learn military affairs to fully prepare themselves politically and ideologically and in military technology. Marshal Kim Jong Un, supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave an order while inspecting the island defence detachments stationed in the southernmost part of the southwest front, the reporter said, and went on: This order makes all members of the young vanguard of the country aboil with the firm will to wipe out the enemy. If a war breaks out, all the university students should change their pens with arms and turn out in the war for national reunification to mercilessly wipe out the U.S. imperialists and the rat-like Myung Bak group of traitors and fully demonstrate the heroic spirit of the Korean youth in the Songun era. Present at the meeting were Choe Ryong Hae, Kim Ki Nam, Mun Kyong Dok and others, officials of the party and power bodies and working people's organizations, university teachers and students in Pyongyang, officials and employees of the Oun Revolutionary Museum. |
