Torchlight Relay Racers Pass through Kangwon, South Phyongan Provinces

Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- Members of the young vanguard participating in the torchlight relay race arrived in Wonsan and Phyongsong separately on Tuesday, 8 days after they left Mt. Paektu. Those from the east and west coastal areas handed over the torchlight to those from Kangwon and South Phyongan Provinces. They were warmly welcomed by citizens and school youth and students of Wonsan and Phyongsong. They laid floral baskets and bunches of flowers before the statues of President Kim Il Sung at Haean Square and the Songdowon International Children's Camp and in Phyongsong City before paying tribute to him. Members of the young vanguard of Kangwon Province participating in the torchlight relay race looked round the revolutionary museum in the province, Wonsan University of Agriculture, Songdowon International Children's Camp, etc. Poem reciting and singing event "Chol Pass and Youth" was held by youth and students of the province at the Songdowon Youth Open-Air Theatre. At the event the young people renewed their determination to carry forward the revolutionary cause of Juche generation after generation, always bearing in mind the touching stories about Chol Pass which leader Kim Jong Il crossed frequently. Those of South Phyongan Province took part in the meeting congratulating the innovators of the Sinri Coal Mine in Chongnam District. They arrived in Phyongsong City through Mundok and Sukchon counties. An oath-taking meeting of youth and students of the province took place before the statue of Kim Il Sung in the city. They pledged to give steady continuity to the march toward Mt. Paektu following the dear respected Kim Jong Un, holding aloft the torchlight of revolution provided by Kim Jong Il. They renewed their resolution to fully display their spirit and courage at every post and in each worksite. They departed from Wonsan and Phyongsong on Wednesday. |
