Japan Urged to Redeem Its Past Crimes Committed against Korea
|

Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- Japan should fulfill its historical, legal and moral obligation by redressing its monstrous crime-woven past as early as possible. Only by doing so, can it get trust from the international community. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a bylined article. The article is carried in connection with the Japanese imperialists' fabrication of the "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" by military threat and blackmail in August of 1910. The article cites facts to prove that it was an illegal false document fabricated by them by force of arms in a bid to annex Korea, to all intents and purposes. This being a hard fact, the Japanese reactionaries are trying hard to paint "the treaty" as a legal one, asserting that it was the "choice of the Koreans" and "Japan went through all procedures." This is an intolerable insult and mockery of the Korean people who had been forced to live as colonial slaves for decades due to the Japanese imperialists' brigandish fabrication of the "treaty". Many years have passed since the Japanese imperialists suffered a defeat but Japan is persistently pursuing an anachronistic hostile policy towards the DPRK, far from honestly making apology and reparation for its past crimes. This behavior is little short of adding to the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean people in the past. The army and people of the DPRK will never forget their crimes no matter how much water may flow under the bridge but force Japan, the sworn enemy of the Korean people, to redeem its past crimes to the last. |
