National Scientific and Technological Forum Held

Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- A national scientific and technological forum in the field of nature conservation took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Thursday to mark the 10th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's work "Let's Build the Country into a Tapestry-like Land in the Era of Workers' Party through Dynamic Afforestation and Water Conservation". Present there were scientists, technicians and teachers in the field of nature conservation. Jong Yong Nam, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Nature Conservation Union of Korea, made an inaugural speech. He said the work published on March 6, 2002 serves as important guidelines for turning the country into a socialist fairyland for happy people and implementing the far-reaching plan of the Workers' Party of Korea for a thriving nation. Kim Jong Il's idea of land management and exploits are being creditably carried forward by the dear respected Kim Jong Un, he noted, referring to the scientific research achievements made in the field of nature conservation. The forum heard more than 50 new and valuable papers presented by officials, scientists, technicians and experts in the fields of forestry, plant, land and water conservation. Among them were papers on researches to settle the seed problem of good species of trees in major forests and introduce good species of oil-bearing chestnut and research on a method of making analysis of real-time simulation flood control during dam construction. Drawing attention of the participants were research on protecting diversity of plants in the area of Mt. Paektu, a method of deciding flood water level, etc. |
