Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- Events began to take place with splendor here on Saturday in celebration of the Youth Day. The day of the formation of the Young Communist League of Korea (August 28, 1927) was instituted as Youth Day in the DPRK. The dear respected Kim Jong Un initiated grandly celebrating the upcoming Youth Day and invited youth representatives to Pyongyang from across the country to take part in the celebrations. In the DPRK the Youth Day is celebrated as an auspicious holiday. The ongoing celebrations will give a glimpse of the fact that the country is attaching big importance to its young people. President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il always attached great importance to the youth in their lifetime. The President organized the Young Communist League of Korea under the idea of "Down-with-Imperialism" to usher in a new history of the youth movement in Korea. He founded the Democratic Youth League of North Korea on January 17, Juche 35 (1946), which embraced young people of various social strata under the banner of democracy. Soon after the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, he had Kim Il Sung University and a school for children of revolutionary martyrs built and he recalled the students, who were fighting in the front, to the rear to make them continue their study in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War. Kim Jong Il had the Youth Day instituted and saw to it that the youth league was renamed the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, with its flag bearing a picture of Kim Il Sung. He published the works "Young Men and Women, Be the Vanguard Unfailingly Loyal to the Party and the Leader" and "Let Young People Highly Exalt the Honor of Young Vanguard in Songun Era by Carrying Forward the Tradition of Youth Movement of Juche", in which he called on the young people to make fresh innovations in the efforts for the country's development, mindful of the duty entrusted to them by the times. Inspired by his deep care, the local young people built up many monumental edifices by themselves, including the Youth Hero Motorway and the Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station. Kim Jong Un is now paying deep attention to the young people of the country. In January this year, he sent an autographic letter "The Building of a Thriving Nation Will Be Accelerated by the Vigorous Drive of the Youth. Always Advance Straight Forward Following the Party!" to officials of the youth league. Now the young people of the DPRK are working hard to greet the Youth Day with signal achievements. |
