Rodong Sinmun Monday says this in a bylined article:

The Lee regime is a group of wicked warmongers who brought back the past of distrust and confrontation through cooperation with outside forces and pushed inter-Korean relations to a complete collapse, though they had favorably developed, and disturbed peace and security on the Korean Peninsula, bringing dark clouds of a nuclear war to hang over it.

Since the present conservative authorities came to power, no proper dialogue has been held between the north and the south and all cooperation undertakings have been suspended though they had made brisk headway in various fields. This is an inevitable product of the cooperation in the anti-DPRK nuclear and "human rights" campaigns and military cooperation pursued by the Lee group with outside forces.

The group has made desperate efforts to hurt the DPRK by force of arms in collusion with its master, zealously pursuant to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK.

As long as the U.S. imperialists and the Lee group of traitors are allowed to go mad with the moves to provoke a war against the DPRK, it is hard to expect any peace and peaceful reunification of Korea and the Korean nation is bound to meet a disaster.

The root cause of misfortune should be removed in time. Now is the time to finally settle accounts with aggressors and traitors.

It is entirely a just measure for self-defence for defending the country and the nation, preserving peace and security on the peninsula and achieving the country's reunification to mercilessly wipe out the war maniacs with invincible military capability and powerful deterrent force for self-defence built up under the banner of Songun.

If the U.S. imperialists and the puppet group of traitors dare ignite a war, it will not be confined to a local war and the DPRK will never miss the golden opportunity but lead it to a sacred war for national reunification.
