Korean in U.S. Praises Kim Jong Un's Field Inspection

Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- South Korean Internet paper Jaju Minbo on August 25 carried an article written by Han Ho Sok, director of the institute for reunification studies in the U.S., as regards the field inspection of island defence detachments stationed in the biggest hotspot in the southernmost area on the southwestern front by Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Un. The article said that First Chairman Kim Jong Un inspected the island defence detachments aboard a small wooden ship. The aerial reconnaissance means of the U.S. forces were watching other areas when the wooden ship was in waters from where enemy positions were within earshot, the article said, and went on: It was something beyond imagination that Kim Jong Un sailed for hours aboard a small wooden ship at a time when tension ran high in Korea with Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises just a few days away. Jangjae and Mu islets are so small that they are not marked on map. Jangjae is smaller than Mu. So, a very small number of soldiers are stationed there. These two islets are just within the shortest earshot in the range of fire of the unit of the south Korean army stationed on Yonphyong. In fact, the TV footage of his inspection showed antennas and military facilities of a unit on Yonphyong that were seen from the coastal artillery observation post of the Korean People's Army on Jangjae Islet. Kim Jong Un inspected the island defence detachments in the tense area accompanied by just several suite members. First, TV showed soldiers of the detachments shouting hurrah, excited to greet Kim Jong Un. Their excitement, hurrah and tears were not acting. They were so surprised to meet their supreme commander, whom they have always longed to see, on the foremost front which has hardly any visitor the year round as the islets are solitary and small ones and situated in the most dangerous area from where one can hear the gunfire shot at the enemy positions. When Kim Jong Un was leaving the islets, soldiers entered into the seawater waist-deep, shouting hurrah and he waved back to them until they were out of his sight. What would have KPA officers and men felt seeing the dramatic scenes of their supreme commander meeting soldiers without formality and appreciating their hard-working and encouraging them on the foremost front fraught with the danger of armed conflict. They might have hardened loyalty to their supreme commander. This ideological and moral unity between the supreme commander and the officers and men constitutes the core of the Songun policy of the north. Second, young women were seen running toward Kim Jong Un in tears together with their children on TV scenes broadcasted in the north. The young women are wives of servicemen of the defence detachments and the children are their sons and daughters. This sounds like visiting a kindergarten in the rear in peacetime, not inspecting the foremost front at a time when the danger of armed conflict is running high. Kim Jong Un embraces children showing loving care for them. This scene seems to stand in sharp contrast with the tension that prevailed in the area. What would have the people in the north felt seeing this dramatic scene? They might have refreshed their will to absolutely trust and follow and share the road of Songun revolution with their supreme leader who stands in the van of the Songun revolution. His inspection in which he shared the weal and woe with the army and people proved that he is pursuing the strong politics of getting the whole society united around the supreme leader just as President Kim Il Sung and Chairman of National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il did. The article said that during his inspection of the defence detachment on Mu Islet Kim Jong Un highly appreciated the soldiers of the detachment for showing the enemy the might of the arms of the strong revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu during the Yonphyong Island shelling with not even a single soldier of the detachment wounded. The article added that Kim proposed awarding the title of hero to the artillery piece No. 1 that demonstrated the might of artillerymen of the KPA to the enemies and the title of heroic detachment to the defence detachment on Mu Islet. During the Yonphyong Island shelling, the detachment did not open fire first but the unit of the south Korean army on Yonphyong fired 50 shells of self-propelled guns. Upon unexpected shelling, the detachment promptly returned the fire. According to a report of Hankuk Ilbo on Nov. 30, 2010, 12 shells out of those fired from the detachment hit township business office and branch police station on Yonphyong Island and other 14 shells also hit other buildings except one shell that was planted on a wall along the coastal highway. The mission of artillery pieces deployed on the detachment is to fire at warships approaching the coast. So, their range of fire is shorter than the distance to Yonphyong from the islet. What is surprising is that the rate of hits was remarkably high even though the detachment shot shells beyond the range of fire. The article further said that Kim Jong Un ordered the soldiers of the detachment to the effect that if the enemies fire even a single bullet or shell into the territory of the north side, they should not confine it to a local war in the southwestern front but lead it to a holy war for national reunification. If the aggressors inflict a war, they should turn the West Sea into the final graves of the enemy, he added, according to the article. This was the order to reunify the Korean Peninsula by waging an all-out war, not just a local war, in case armed conflict breaks out again in waters off the five islands in the West Sea. This was also the order for making preparations to send the U.S. 7th fleet to the bottom of the water in case it sets out for the West Sea led by an aircraft carrier and attacks the north. The reason that Kim Jong Un issued such orders was that the U.S. threat of a war against the DPRK has become ever-more serious. The U.S. has not implemented the September 19 joint statement but attempted terrorist attacks on the north. The Lee Myung Bak regime of south Korea has totally denied the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, pursuant to the hostile policy toward the DPRK. Kim Jong Un provided the unusual inspection of the front aboard a small wooden ship with the pluck and gut of sailing in waters just under the enemy's eyes. The People's Army which received the supreme commander's order will wage a war for reunification by unusual operational mode of paralyzing the enemy by striking its weak point any moment and in any place if the U.S. and Lee Myung Bak regime ignite a war. |
