DPRK Hit by Typhoon-15
Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- Typhoon-15 hit most areas of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, triggering torrential rain and raging wind.

From 00:00 Tuesday to 06:00 Wednesday, it rained 294 mm in Hochon County and 189 mm in Sudong District, South Hamgyong Province, 183 mm in Samchon, 150 mm in Unryul and 134 mm in Kwail counties, South Hwanghae Province, 154 mm in Taehung County, South Phyongan Province, 141 mm in Ryongchon, 138 mm in Pyokdong counties and 127 mm in Sinuiju City, North Phyongan Province, 135 mm in Puryong County, North Hamgyong Province, 119 mm in Kimhyonggwon County, Ryanggang Province and 118 mm in Chonnae County, Kangwon Province.

A wind of over 10 m/s hit most areas of the country, except some areas in Jagang Province.

A wind of over 30 m/s was observed in North and South Hwanghae, South Hamgyong, South Phyongan provinces and Nampho City from 03:00 to 06:00 Wednesday.

Tidal waves were 111 cm high in the sea off Kimchaek City, 85 cm off Chongjin City and 87 cm off Rason City, North Hamgyong Province, 83 cm off Riwon County, 69 cm off Tanchon City, 61 cm off Sinpho City, South Hamgyong Province and 27 cm off Kosong County and 15 cm off Thongchon County, Kangwon Province.

The typhoon, moving north-northeastward, is likely to affect the northern part of the country till Wednesday afternoon.
