Oil Painting of DPRK Awarded Gold Prize at Int'l Art Expo

Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- An oil painting of the DPRK "Long-Awaited Day of Liberation" was awarded a gold prize, the highest prize of the 15th Beijing International Art Expo. On display at the expo which opened on Aug. 15 and lasted till Aug. 20 were hundreds of works created by talented artists from at least 20 countries and regions including the DPRK, China, Russia, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the U.S. The work was done by Choe Myong Sik, an artist of the Mansudae Art Studio. Members of the organizing committee of the expo, experts and visitors were unsparing in their praises of the work for the unique Korean-style oil painting. Korean painting "For the Country" was awarded the highest prize at the expo held last year. |
