It was cosponsored by the C.C., the Nature Conservation Union of Korea and the Environmental Conservation Institute of the Ministry of Land and Environmental Conservation.

The forum heard more than 30 papers conducive to putting environmental conservation of the country on a new scientific and technological basis.

The participants presented achievements made in settling scientific and technological issues arising in protecting water, atmosphere and ecological environment, preventing pollution of environment and effectively recovering and using varieties of industrial waste in recent years true to the Workers' Party of Korea's Juche-based idea of protecting environment.

A paper of research into the form of avalanche of earth and rocks and its change and development at the time of volcano eruption in the area of Mt. Paektu presented by Kim Yong Il, teacher of the Department of Earth and Environment Science of Kim Il Sung University, and a paper by Ri Chung Hon, researcher of the Environmental Conservation Institute of the Ministry of Land and Environmental Conservation were highly appreciated.
