Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Education Commission of the DPRK issued the following statement on Thursday: The Lee Myung Bak group of traitors has recently made desperate efforts to bar south Korean professors and students and other people's reverence for the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu from growing stronger with each passing day. A few days ago, fascist hooligans of the Department of Public Security of the Ulsan District Prosecutor's Office committed such violence as expelling Professor Ri No Hyong from Ulsan National University and referring Ri to a trial on charges of violating the "Security Law" for the mere reason that he let his students write their impressions after reading "With the Century", reminiscences of President Kim Il Sung. It was reported that Prof. Ri let the students present their impressions after reading the President's reminiscences, praising the President as "general" during Ri's lectures of "history of Korean literature" from 2005 to 2010. He obtained more than 200 works including the President's reminiscences and "Library of the Juche Idea" and relevant books through Internet website and avidly read them, keeping them in his teaching room. He also disseminated them to other professors of the same university. Incriminating this, the puppet prosecution questioned him over this matter in 2010 but was compelled to stop it in face of his just assertion about "freedom of learning". Nevertheless, it contemplates imposing severe penalty upon him by referring him to a trial. In January this year, too, the puppet prosecution detained an inhabitant on charges of violating the SL and took such fascist action as referring him to a trial for the mere reason that he posted on Internet website such articles as "'With the Century' is an immutable truth", "Advantages of the socialist system" and Songun politics is just". The Lee group's barbarous suppression is sparking off surging resentment among all the educationists of the DPRK and other people, and all fellow countrymen. The Education Commission of the DPRK vehemently denounces the group's fascist suppression of Prof. Ri as an unpardonable insult to the inviolable education, another grave politically-motivated provocation against the DPRK and crimes against reunification. To praise and revere the peerlessly great man is noble emotion and aspiration of man and it is the nature of true education to teach his works indicating justice, truth and the way of independent life as textbooks. Kim Il Sung enjoyed boundless reverence and trust of all fellow countrymen and mankind as the greatest man in history. His immortal works are being rapidly disseminated with extraordinary attraction while shining as famous works clarifying the way to be followed by the Korean nation and the world progressives. It is only the Lee group that is invoking the "Security Law" to put down the inviolable school platform and the mind following the truth while foolishly behaving to chill the aspiration of the people and stem the trend of the times. Its suppression fully proved that the south Korean society is a barren land of human rights where no sincerity is to be found and the most closed hell as it indicates what phase the fascist racket of the wicked maniacs for confrontation with fellow countrymen has reached. The south Korean fascist regime ruthlessly trampling down the intellectuality aspiring after the truth will be short-lived. The Council of Professors for Democracy and many other organizations and people from all walks of life in south Korea are strongly protesting against the fascist suppression by the group of traitors hell-bent on confrontation with fellow countrymen and the moves to stay in power. The crackdown on them intensified by the Lee conservative group contrary to the aspiration and demand of the people would only precipitate its miserable ruin. It should stop at once the reckless suppression of justice, conscience and education and immediately abolish the draconic "Security Law". |
