Height 1211 Associated with Heroic Feats of KPA Soldiers
Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Un inspected a KPA large combined unit stationed in the eastern sector of the front to examine its operational plan, showing deep loving care for its servicepersons.

The Height 1211 is under the military control of the unit.

In the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953), the U.S. aggressors mobilized huge forces and combat equipment to seize the height.

The height was a main target of the "autumn offensive" launched by the U.S. forces in September 1951.

They showered 30 000 to 40 000 bombs and shells on the height a day, alternated by scores of "wave attacks".

The height became naked, engulfed by fire, in a few days after the beginning of the battle.

But with any desperate attacks could the U.S. not seize the height.

The KPA soldiers, determined to defend the height at the cost of their lives, highly displayed massive heroism and self-sacrificing spirit.

18-year-old Ri Su Bok silenced an enemy machinegun with his body, another soldier threw himself among enemies with a bundle of hand grenades and the other set a mortar almost upright to fire at enemies 45 meters away.

The defenders made frontline musical instruments by themselves and sang songs to the tune of instruments at intervals of battles.

In defending the height, they killed and captured more than 29 000 enemy soldiers, downed some 40 planes and seized some 60 tanks and many other weapons.

Shocked in battles, the enemies called the height a "heartbreak ridge" and "trap valley".

Now, the KPA soldiers, who are on military duty at the height, are fully determined to deal an annihilating blow to the U.S. and south Korean forces, if they provoke a new war, in the spirit displayed by the defenders of the height in the past war.
