When he appeared in its venue, the participants enthusiastically welcomed him with rousing cheers of "hurrah!"

He waved back to them, his face beaming with a broad smile.

Young delegates presented bouquets to him, reflecting the boundless reverence and wishes of all young people across the country.

On Youth Day marked in the advance in the first year of the new century of Juche he extended the best wishes to all the young people across the country who have powerfully demonstrated their patriotism, loyalty and strong spirit in the advance toward a final victory under the leadership of the Party by glorifying forever President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il's idea of the youth movement and their exploits performed in it.

He congratulated the delegates on having demonstrated before the whole world their firm will to give steady continuity to the journey of Mt. Paektu united close around the Party and their organizing ability, the might of unity and militancy through celebrations of Youth Day, a revolutionary holiday of the Korean youth. Then he had a photo session with them.

He expressed expectation and belief that all the young men and women across the country including the delegates would fully demonstrate the heroic mettle and wisdom of the Korean youth in building a rich and powerful country, loudly singing the song of the struggle and unity just as young people did when they were proclaiming the birth of the Young Communist League of Korea, holding Kim Il Sung in high esteem, and raising high the torchlight of the revolution given by Kim Jong Il.

Present there were Choe Ryong Hae, Hyon Yong Chol, Kim Kyong Hui, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok, Pak To Chun, Ri Yong Su and the chairman and vice-chairmen of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, the head of the delegation of Korean youth and students in Japan and the head of the delegation of the Youth Federation of Korean Nationals in China.
