President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is chairman of the summit courteously proposed the participants to express profound condolences over the demise of Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.

Heads of state and governments of 120 countries, high-ranking delegates and representatives of various international bodies and all other participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Kim Jong Il who performed undying feats for the development and strengthening of the NAM and the struggle for global independence.
