Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- Jaju Minbo, an internet paper, on Aug. 28 posted on its Internet homepage an article written by Ri Pyong Jin, a south Korean university professor behind bars, in which he denounced the U.S. imperialists and Lee Myung Bak regime's moves to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK. The article said that the authorities are suppressing him after throwing him behind bars on the charge of espionage for the mere reason that he had been to the north. Referring to what he saw for himself while staying in Pyongyang, he noted in his article that the harsher economic blockade the U.S. imposes on the DPRK, the more rapidly it has developed its self-supporting economy relying on its own efforts, far from yielding to the U.S. The north is now standing firm against the enemies' hostile policy toward it, it said, and continued: It is foolish of the U.S. and the Lee regime to calculate it will collapse under their pressure. The Lee regime has made desperate efforts to stifle the DPRK over the past 5 years, but it is not the north but the south that stands isolated. The north emerged a full-fledged nuclear weapons state. The Lee regime paid lip service to co-existence with the north, but it has enforced a policy hostile to fellow countrymen, bringing the inter-Korean relations to a collapse. The regime has oppressed its people while being hell-bent on fraud, irregularities and corruption. The conservative ruling forces are running the whole gamut of tricks to stay in power with the help of the U.S. imperialists. The despicable moves of the U.S. and the Lee regime to block national reunification and peace are bound to go bust just as they failed in their scenario to stifle the north by colluding with each other. |
