Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- Only when the U.S. troops are pulled out of south Korea as early as possible, is it possible to ensure peace and security of the Korean Peninsula as well as Asia and other parts of the world, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a bylined article. The article was dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces' occupation of south Korea. It goes on: It is entirely unjust that the U.S. forces are still present in south Korea. Removal of U.S. forces from south Korea is an obligation of the U.S. under international law. The present situation shows that the pullout of foreign forces is becoming a trend in a global scale. Hence, withdrawal of U.S. troops from south Korea is in conformity with the trend of the times oriented towards peace. If the U.S. forces are pulled out of south Korea, it will not only root out the main cause menacing peace on the Korean Peninsula and remove the worst obstacle in the way of reunification, but create favorable circumstances for the Korean nation to independently and peacefully reunify the country. In case a war breaks out in Korea, it will inevitably expand to other regions in the world. Then, it is clear that it would disturb the peace and security not only of the Korean Peninsula but Asia and other parts of the world. If the U.S. forces are removed from south Korea, the most dangerous hotspot will be disappeared from the world and this will be beneficial for ensuring its peace and security. The U.S. military presence in south Korea also lays a serious stumbling block in the realization of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula as it is a product of U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK. The more impudently the U.S. acts regarding the nuclear issue, the more difficult it will be to settle the issue of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula. The pullout of U.S. forces from south Korea serves as a touchstone showing whether the U.S. has an intention to set right its hostile policy toward the DPRK and hopes for reunification of Korea or not. The U.S. had better face up to the reality and make a correct option. |
