Built in the area around the ruined Anhak Palace at the foot of Mt. Taesong, the open-air history museum gives a glimpse of the Korean history and the traditional national customs.

The park is associated with labor feats of servicepersons. To build this park covering an area of hundreds of hectares, they had to carry out more than 270 projects, subdivided into 690.

Though the construction task was so enormous, the soldier-builders creditably carried it out in the spirit of devotedly implementing the order of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un.

Under the slogan "Let us take upon ourselves both national defence and socialist construction", the servicepersons accustomed themselves to plastering and other building methods. And they invented more than 100 new construction methods to speed up the projects.

The soldier-builders finished the construction of hundreds of structures in only four months, including a large-sized Korean map piled up with more than 40 000 cubic meters of earth and a model of the Tower of Juche Idea. They molded about 17 000 blocks by themselves to build a model of the Kumgang Temple Pagoda.

Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un visited the park under construction several times, stressing the need to build structures based on historical truth and modern aesthetic taste and indicating the orientation and concrete ways for its construction.

Kwon Hyong Sik, an officer of the Korean People's Army, said that the credit for the successful construction of the Pyongyang Folk Park, an edifice in the Songun (military-first) era, goes to the wise guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un and the serviceperson's indomitable spirit.
