Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Korean youth and students in Japan and Japanese youth and students held an event in Tokyo on Sept. 9 to mark the 10th anniversary of the publication of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration under the co-sponsorship of the Korean Youth League in Japan, the Council of Young Men's Associations of Japan (Japan Seinendan Council) and the League of Socialist Youth of Japan. A meeting took place prior to it. Speakers at the meeting accused the Japanese government of fanning up the hostility toward the DPRK among Japanese, young people in particular, putting media under control, while talking about "the abduction issue" even after the publication of the declaration. The strained DPRK-Japan relations and the ban on entry of ship Mangyongbong-92 into a Japanese port made it very difficult for Korean youth and students in Japan to make study tour of their homeland, they added. Calling for an early improvement of the DPRK-Japan relations, they urged youth and students of Korea and Japan to take the lead in making positive efforts for the normalization of ties between the DPRK and Japan. They declared that the young Japanese should have proper understanding of their country's past history and conduct brisk exchange with the Korean youth and students in Japan. Then the meeting introduced activities for friendship between youth and students of Korea and Japan over the past decade. A joint appeal was adopted at the meeting. At the end of the meeting the participants looked round a photo exhibition and a painting exhibition on the themes of "Pyongyangites" and "Forum of children in the north and the south of Korea and Japanese children". There took place a demonstration of young people of Korea and Japan supporting the Pyongyang Declaration and aspiring after the DPRK-Japan friendship. An art performance was given by youth and students of Korea and Japan. |
