There was a discussion in Russia on depriving a deputy to the State Duma from opposition party of his rights. The European Parliament adopted the resolution terming it an attempt to curb the legitimate political activities of a representative of the opposition party. The official branded this as groundless.

It is not known what information source and analysis the European Parliament had used in the course of adopting the resolution, he noted, adding that Russia would never accept the ungrounded resolution.
