Recalling that the Japanese prime minister on Sept. 16 said Japan could not help being disappointed at the ceaseless anti-Japanese demonstrations in China and urged the Chinese government to take what he called steps against them, the spokesman stressed Japan should not evade or conceal its responsibility.

The Chinese government had already expressed its stand in various forms on the illegal "purchase of islands" by the Japanese government, and the Chinese people, too, are expressing strong resentment at this, Hong noted.

The issue of whether Japan will solemnly approach the stand of the Chinese government and the just voices of the Chinese people or not and Japan's right attitude and action affect the developments, he warned.
