The message said the president received very sad news that the typhoon that hit the DPRK left lots of people dead and wounded.

It is an irretrievable damage and a great sadness that thousands of houses, farmland and infrastructure were washed away and destroyed, the message said.

The president in the message extended profound condolences to Kim Jong Un and the government and people of the DPRK on behalf of the government and people of Maldives.

He wished for success in the work for recovering from the damage by the dogged fighting spirit and positive efforts of the people of the DPRK.

He expressed his sincere consolation to the bereaved families.
