Self-reliance is the principle of struggle to be held fast to by the developing countries to achieve social progress.

They should strictly adhere to the principle of collective self-reliance. This is one of the important issues they should settle to swim with the trend of the new century and achieve a high rate of development as required by it.

What is important for doing so is for them to tap all their possibilities and use all conditions to the maximum.

Adherence to the principle of collective self-reliance does not mean ignoring others' things.

The developing countries should firmly preserve the Juche character and national identity in applying advanced science and technology and others' good experiences.

They should try as hard as possible to develop science and technology by their own efforts.

The DPRK built dependable scientific institutions during the "Arduous March", forced march, and achieved such spectacular scientific and technological achievements as successfully launching satellites. All this was possible because the Workers' Party of Korea enforced the policy of giving importance to science and technology and actively pushed ahead with the work to implement it with much effort.

The practical experience and reality of the DPRK go to prove that any country can achieve scientific and technological progress when it maintains an independent and creative stand and buckles down to the work with a will on the principle of self-reliance.
