The editorial says:

The October 4 declaration clarifies the ways for definitely turning the inter-Korean relations into those of mutual respect and trust in the spirit of "By our nation itself", building the lasting peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula and developing the many-sided cooperation and exchange between the north and the south.

The adoption of the October 4 declaration was an epochal event that provided the guidelines common to the north and the south to develop the nation's unity and cooperation and the movement of the country's reunification to the higher stage on the basis of the June 15 joint declaration.

Its adoption helped the Korean nation usher in the new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity with confidence, guided by the practical programme for comprehensively embodying the June 15 joint declaration.

Had the declarations been implemented, the north-south relations would have rapidly developed and our compatriots would have spurred the course of reconciliation and reunification with confidence, looking forward to the country's reunification.

Traitor Lee Myung Bak seeking the inter-Korean confrontation took power in south Korea shortly after the adoption of the October 4 declaration. This laid big obstacles in the way for the implementation of the declarations.

The denial of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration amounts to the confrontation and war. This is the review and lesson drawn from the past five years.

Definite is the victory of the country's reunification as there are the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration provided by leader Kim Jong Il and the inexhaustible power of all the compatriots who advance in unity in the spirit of "By our nation itself".

The editorial calls for dynamically advancing the country's reunification movement full of fresh faith and optimism under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.
